The new, third-generation MINI will be unveiled at the company's Oxford factory on 18 November, 107 years to day since the birth of the original Mini designer, Sir Alec Issigonis.

MINI will also be displaying the new model on November 20 at the Tokyo Motor Show and at the Los Angeles Motor Show later that day.

Unfortunately, the firm has released very little information on what we can expect from the new car; however, the MINI Vision concept car which was unveiled a couple of weeks ago gives us some indication of what the latest MINI could look like.

MINI has also released an image of the new car hidden underneath a cover. Although the image gives very little away, it does at least give us an idea of the profile and stance of the new model. A bonnet scoop is also visible underneath the fabric, indicating that the image is of a Cooper model.

The new MINI is built on an all-new platform which will underpin the entire next generation of MINI models, as well as a range of new front-wheel drive BMW models. The core of the range is expected to be a 1.5-litre three-pot turbocharged engine which will likely be supplemented by a higher-powered 1.6-litre unit in the more powerful derivatives.

The first examples of the new MINI will reach dealerships at the beginning of next year.
