MINI has revealed a new concept called the MINI Vision, which shows how future generations of the MINI could look.
Unveiled at the company's design studios in Munich, the MINI Vision is unique amongst concept cars in that it isn't actually a genuine, tangible car. No, the concept was unveiled as a 3D hologram by MINI design boss Anders Warming.
MINI claims that by using hologram technology to design and display the car, it allows them to fine-tune the design of the model more quickly than they could do with traditional sketches and 1:1 clay models.
The design of the MINI Vision is, in MINI's words, "a perfect balance of old and new". The car is still unquestionably a MINI, featuring classic MINI design traits such as a its hexagonal radiator grille, round headlights and distinctive side profile, but the car also incorporates a number of new design themes.
The grille, for example, now incorporates the bumper and auxiliary lights; the headlights are now LEDs, doubling-up as daytime-running lights; the rear lights are larger and cut into the boot-lid and plastic cladding has been added to the car's exterior.
On the inside there's a floating centre console, lounge seats, a larger central speedo which is fully digital rather than the analogue one fitted to the standard car and a 'MINI Disco' floor which illuminates the footwells.
