Nissan's long-dormant budget brand Datsun is due to make a comeback and these official pictures show how the brand's first new car in more than thirty years will look.
Due to be unveiled later this month, the new Datsun is a five-door hatchback based on the Nissan Micra, and will be offered with the 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine from the more expensive car.
The Datsun will be aimed at younger buyers in developing markets such as Russia, Indonesia, India and South Africa; however, Datsun has confirmed that the new model will not be available in the UK.
The main reason for this is likely to be that the introduction of a Nissan budget range to the UK market could hurt sales of new Dacia models (Nissan and Dacia's owners, Renault, are of course in partnership with each other)
The new car is expected to cost the equivalent of around £3,500 when it goes on sale early next year.
