The new third-generation Audi TT has been previewed in a series of teaser sketches ahead of its debut at next month's Geneva Motor Show.
Audi claims that the design of the new car features a host of design ideas reinterpreted from the original 1998 Audi TT, along with a range of styling cues borrowed from the R8 supercar.
At the front end, the new TT gets a new grille and a new contoured bonnet. The Audi four-rings badge has also been moved from the grille to the leading edge of the bonnet, as it is on the R8.
Overall, the new TT looks broadly similar to the outgoing model, retaining the current car's distinctive shape. The large wheel arches and prominent shoulder line of the current car remain, as does the car's low roofline and shallow glasshouse.
The new TT will be based on the same VW MQB platform which underpins the Golf and the A3. Audi has yet to release any information on engines but a range of four-cylinder petrol and diesel models, as well as a hot RS version, are likely to feature.
Audi has already released images of the car's interior, which is notable for the inclusion of what the company calls a "virtual cockpit," which uses a fully digital screen instead of a traditional instrument cluster.
The Geneva Motor Show begins on 4 March.
