This year’s North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit will see the world premiere of a new MINI concept car, called the MINI Paceman.
Exactly 10 years ago visitors to the North American International Auto Show saw the re-launch of the MINI brand in North America. Since then the brand have had substantial successes, and they now plan to celebrate this landmark anniversary at the NAIAS in Detroit this year by unveiling a dramatic new concept car - the MINI Paceman.
The designers of the MINI Paceman were not short of ambition, and have sought to create an entirely new category of car by producing the world's first Sports Activity Coupe (SAC) for the small car segment.
The aim of this new car is to provide an even more fun driving experience across an even greater range of usage. Bringing together the classic MINI concept, the defining features of the MINI Countryman, and the style of a coupe into a harmonious whole, the new crossover design offers premium quality and lifestyle elements.
The MINI Paceman is a four-seat car with two large doors, and takes the main strengths of the traditional MINI - its unique, fun, almost go-kart like handling and agility - and combines them with a more sporty, muscular character through the use of cutting edge technology and an innovative body design.
The NAIAS show in Detroit will also see the North American launch of the MINI Countryman.
