Cadillac is hoping to continue its renaissance with the firm’s strongest ever European line-up on display at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, with the European premiere of its luxury Ciel convertible concept car providing the jewel in the crown.
The four door Ciel convertible concept is an exemplar of Cadillac's newly re-found self-confidence, presenting a vision of open-top motoring on a grand scale. As the perfect expression of Cadillac's Art & Science design philosophy the Ciel combines hand-crafted opulence and luxury with cutting edge technology features in a car design which celebrates the grand touring spirit.
Also on show in Frankfurt will be the Cadillac CTS V Series, which includes the fastest sedan and wagon in series production. These cars come with a supercharged 6.2-litre V8 564bhp engine combined with Magnetic Ride Control, which is the world's fastest-acting active suspension system.
The 415 CTS-V Sport Wagon adds five-door functionality to Cadillac's signature design, and includes an innovative hidden roof rail system. It is available with rear or all-wheel drive and is hitting UK show rooms right now.
Also on show will be the CTS Sport Coupe, the SRX Crossover, and the Escalade Hybrid Platinum Edition. The SRX Crossover now comes with a more powerful 270bhp 3.0-litre V6 engine, and an active all-wheel drive system with an electronically-controlled limited slip rear differential. The Escalade Hybrid is the first full-sized luxury SUV to include hybrid technology. When driving in the city its Electrically Variable Transmission provides a 33% improvement in fuel economy. The Platinum Edition on show in Frankfurt adds to this with a top of the range luxury interior and LED headlamps.
The Managing Director of Cadillac Europe, Wolfgang Schubert, said of the event that:
"The Frankfurt show comes at a pivotal point in the re-birth of the Cadillac brand. We have come a long way in a short space of time since re-establishing the brand in Europe just a year ago. We now have a full CTS range in the mid-size vehicle segment, plus the SRX Crossover and Escalade SUVs. And next year we will book-end the CTS line-up by re-entering the premium segments for large and compact cars above and below it."
