MINI are celebrating a prestigious rally victory.
A MINI John Cooper Works X-Raid Buggy in the hands of two-time World Rally Champion Carlos Sainz finished 6h21m ahead of its closest rival to take the 2020 Rally Dakar crown.
The 2020 event took place in Saudi Arabia, the first time the iconic endurance rally has been staged on the Asian contintent, and took in a near thousand mile course of largely desert driving between Jeddah and Qiddiya. MINI came out tops on nine of the twelve days, with Sainz and third-placed Stephane Peterhansel winning four stages apiece in their MINI JCW X-Raid Buggys, and Vaidotas Zala winning the opening stage in his MINI JCW Rally.
MINI took four of the top ten places, with Orlando Terranova and Yasir Seaidan joining Sainz and Peterhansel, while seven of the nine MINI entries made it to the finish line.
