Earlier this year, the 900,000th Mazda MX-5 rolled off the production lines after 21 years. Now it seems that another Mazda is hitting an even bigger sales milestone as the Mazda3 reaches three millions units produced worldwide.

The Mazda3 has been sold in the UK since 2004 and is the fastest selling Mazda currently in production. It has been the recipient of a great number of automotive honours including the 2009 Scottish Car of the Year Award in the family car segment, and first place in the European compact car segment in the 2010 J.D. Power customer satisfaction survey.

Produced in Japan, the Mazda3 is sold in 90 countries worldwide. In 2006 it was the second best-selling car in Canada and was the best-selling car in Israel between 2005 and 2007.

In 2010, 9,659 Mazda3s were sold in Britain.
