The last ever Lamborghini Gallardo has rolled off the company's Sant'Agata Bolognese production line, ten years after the model was first introduced.
Since 2003 14,022 Gallardos have been sold worldwide, making it by far and away Lamborghini's most successful ever model. In fact, the Gallardo has been so successful that nearly half of all the Lamborghinis ever made in the firm's fifty year history have been Gallardos.
The final model to be produced was a Gallardo LP 570-4 Spyder Performante.
The Gallardo was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2003 as part of Lamborghini's fortieth anniversary celebrations. Originally available in coupe form only, a Spyder model was added to the lineup in 2005, followed by a lightweight Superlegerra model in 2007. A second-generation model was introduced in 2008, boasting refreshed styling and a new direct-injection V10 with 552bhp.
In total, 32 special edition variants of the Gallardo were made, with the final two being the Super Trofeo Stradale and the Gallardo Squadra Corse, the latter of which had 562bhp, giving a 0-62mph time of 3.4 seconds.
The replacement for the Gallardo, which is likely to be called the Carbrera, is already in development but is not due to go on sale until the second half of 2014.
