Kia has revealed a teaser image of its first ever hot hatch, the Pro_cee'd GT.
The Pro_cee'd GT is based on the three-door Pro_cee'd hatchback, which was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show earlier this year, and will be launched at the Geneva show in March before going on sale in July.
Under the bonnet, the Pro_cee'd GT gets the 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine from the Hyundai Veloster Turbo, which is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. In the Veloster, the engine develops 184bhp and 195lb-ft of torque, but we expect Kia to boost the power output to around 200bhp, giving a 0-62mph time of around 8 seconds and a top speed in excess of 130mph.
On the outside, the Pro_cee'd GT gets LED daytime running lights, large alloy wheels and a bigger front spoiler. Underneath, Kia has tuned the chassis and suspension to give a sportier driving experience than the standard Pro_cee'd.
The Pro_cee'd GT is the first model in Kia's planned performance car line-up, which the firm hopes will help bolster its image as it continues to establish itself as a major player in the European market.
Prices have yet to be confirmed but expect the Pro_cee'd GT to cost in the region of £22,000 when it goes on sale next year.
