Thanks to an increase in the number of models sold across Europe, car manufacturer Nissan has experienced a year-on-year rise of 15% during January.
The increase follows the sale of 55,098 units which pushed Nissan’s market share from 0.6% to 4.2%.
Exclusively in the UK, Nissan’s car sales jumped more than 20% over January – with an increase of 21.5% for the month. This put the sales figure at 6,285 units with models such as the Nissan Qashqai proving especially popular.
In fact, the Qashqai has been named the eighth most popular car in Britain, with the high sales figures reflecting this growing popularity.
Of course, the Qashqai is not the only popular model for UK drivers and the Nissan Juke also gained popularity with British motorists.
The model’s sales figures jumped one third year-on-year for January, equating to 33% in the UK with other markets, including Russia, mimicking this trend.
Russia is Nissan’s largest market within Europe, experiencing an impressive monthly increase for the manufacturer’s market share by jumping from 5.7% to 7.4%
Both the Qashqai and the Juke are manufactured in Sunderland, marking a success for locally produced commercial vehicles.
Commenting on the situation, the Vice President for Sales Operations in Europe at Nissan, Guillaume Cartier, said that the company were “reaping the benefit of putting [their] customers’ desires and expectations [first].”
Cartier named the Qashqai and Juke family range as one of the main reasons for the growth, explaining how the manufacturer had “indentified an unmet need” and produced popular models that catered to this.
Hoping to provide another innovative vehicle which caters to a niche in the automotive market, Nissan have begun releasing details of their new concept car: the Nissan INNOVATION.
The concept car is set to inspire a further range of vehicles from the manufacturer and will have its debut next month at the Geneva Motor Show.
