Jaguar has confirmed that its most track-focused road-going car ever, the XKR-S GT will go on sale in the UK later this year.

We told you about the XKR-S GT earlier this year when it made its debut at the New York Motor Show. At the time Jaguar confirmed that only 30 cars would ever be built and that it had no plans to market the car in the UK.

Luckily for British buyers, Jaguar has changed its mind and now 10 right-hand drive examples of the XKR-S GT will be coming to the UK, each carrying a price tag of £135,000. Jaguar claims that strong demand was the motivating force behind the decision.

The XKR-S GT is fitted with the same 542bhp supercharged 5.0-litre V8 that you get in the XKR-S; however, the GT is 0.3 seconds quicker to 60mph, with a 0-60mph time of 3.9 seconds.

The GT also gets a number of improvements over the standard XKR-S, including a bespoke aerodynamic package consisting of a carbon-fibre front splitter, a rear diffuser and a rear wing, tweaked suspension with adaptive, height-adjustable dampers, carbon-ceramic brakes, a wider front track and increased wheel camber.

As a result of this fettling, Jaguar claims that the XKR-S GT will lap the Nurburgring in 7 minutes 40 seconds, making it the fastest ever road-legal Jag around 'The Green Hell'.

The first XKR-S GTs will be delivered to their owners in October.
