Meet the Jaguar XKR-S GT, the most track-focussed road-going version of the Jaguar XK ever made.
The XKR-S GT was unveiled by Jaguar earlier today on the eve of the New York Motor Show and will join the XJR on the Jaguar stand when the show gets underway later this week.
Only thirty cars will be built initially, making the XKR-S GT the rarest model in the 25-year history of Jaguar's R-badged performance cars.
Under the bonnet, the XKR-S GT is fitted with a 542bhp supercharged 5.0-litre V8 engine, which sends its power to the rear wheels via a six-speed automatic gearbox. 0-62mph takes 3.9 seconds and top speed is an electronically-limited 186mph.
The GT comes with a range of aerodynamic aids, including a carbon-fibre front splitter, dive planes, extended wheelarch spats, a rear diffuser and a huge rear wing. As a result, the GT generates 145kg of downforce at full speed.
The GT gets tweaked front and rear suspension which includes a wider front track, increased camber, revised bushings, and a new, quicker steering system. The GT is also the first ever production Jaguar to come with carbon-ceramic brakes.
In addition to this, the GT comes with special 20-inch forged and lightweight alloy wheels, which are designed to optimise brake cooling, and Pirelli Corsa tyres.
At present Jaguar has no plans to sell the GT in the UK; however, a right-hand drive version could be built if there is sufficient demand.
