Although we don't really buy into the whole philosophy of gender-specific cars here at CarSite.co.uk, it's fair to say that among some quarters the Fiat 500 has a reputation for being a bit of a 'girl's car'.
Well, in an attempt to make the 500 a little more appealing to a male audience, Fiat has collaborated with the men's magazine GQ to create a new model which is aimed predominantly at male buyers.
Fiat claims that the 500 GQ, which made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year, "blends the urban feeling of the Fiat 500 with the trendsetting spirit of GQ Magazine." It comes in an exclusive two-tone paint finish which combines Groove Metal Grey with Crossover Black and comes with a range of extra equipment and styling features.
On the outside, the 500 GQ gets black mirror covers, GQ logos on the B-pillars, 16-inch sport alloy wheels and contrasting orange 500 logos on the wheel trims. Inside, a sports leather steering wheel with infotainment controls comes standard, as do leather seats with orange stitching and an orange 500 logo on the dashboard. A leather gear knob and brushed aluminium pedals complete the visual transformation.
The 500 GQ is available with a choice of the 0.9-litre TwinAir petrol engine, the 1.2-litre petrol engine and the 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel. Prices start from £13,110 for the 1.2-petrol in hatchback form, rising to £18,330 for the diesel convertible.
