Alfa Romeo has won four prizes at this weekend's Concorso di Eleganza at Villa d'Este.

The 4C was awarded the Design Award for Concept Cars and Prototypes by a public vote. The two-seater, rear wheel drive, mid-engined coupe saw off competition from the Stile Bertone Jaguar B99, the Lexus LF-LC and the Ford Evos Concept.

When it goes into production next year, the 4C will be fitted with a turbocharged 1.8-litre engine developing 230bhp. The 4C should hit 62mph in 4.5 seconds thanks to an incredibly lightweight body.

Also honoured this weekend was Alfa's 6C 1750 GS which won the Coppa d'Oro, another award voted for by the public. The car was first unveiled in Paris in 1933 and won the 1935 Le Mans 24 hour race.
