PROS: The turbocharged engine is strong and smooth at cruising speeds. The trim level is good and the cabin is comforble. It is practical and has plenty of space for luggage.
CONS: Four-wheel-drive increases traction, but also running costs. The ride is a little on the firm side particularly at lower speeds and the saloon doesn’t look as high quality as a premium saloon should.
This Saab 95’s ride is suitably refined when cruising on motorways and country roads, but loses stability when the car is driven harder. The steering feels precise though.
The 2.0 litre four cylinder turbocharged petrol engine produces maximum figures of 217 bhp at 5300 rpm and 258 lb-ft at 2500 rpm. A 0-62 mph time of 8.0 seconds and a top speed of 143 mph are very good figures for a large saloon.
There’s plenty of adjustment in the driver’s seat and steering wheel for a comfortable driving experience. The dashboard is well laid out too.
The Saab 95 Vector SE 2.0T XWD 4dr is a smart and stylish looking car, despite the bulk of its shell, from the distinctive Saab grill to the curvaceously sculpted rear.
The Aero model has a few sporting touches like 19 inch Turbine alloy wheels and a subtle body kit. Inside you get keyless start, a CD player, MP3 connectivity, Bluetooth, electric windows, electric door mirrors, Satnav, cruise control, rear parking sensors, leather seats and dual-zone climate control as standard. It also comes with alloy wheels, an alarm and immobiliser and front fog lights.
Metallic paint is a £540 option and a Head-Up display £615.
This Saab 95 comes with many safety features including six airbags, ABS, Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and stability control.
There is plenty of room in the saloon and the boot is of reasonable size, with 515 litres of space.
Saab’s do quiet well in the reliability stakes, but they aren’t without their problems. This car comes with a three year 60,000 mile warranty for added peace of mind.
The Saab 95 Aero 2.0T XWD 4dr carries a premium price tag at £33,465. The saloon has loads of space and the boot is of a practical size. The performance is good too, but it’s not the most appealing premium car in its class and it’ll attract fairly low resale values.
A combined cycle of 32.1 mpg is a not a great figure for a car in this premium sector and with a CO2 emissions figure of 196 g/km the taxes and running costs are far from cheap.
