This car is well equipped and delivers a comfortable and enjoyable drive. This makes this model ideal for those looking for long term ownership of a reliable vehicle but a reasonably high purchase price and green credentials which struggle to be classed as anything other than average make the Ford Fiesta Titanium Econetic 1.6 TDCi a wiser choice.

PROS:  A convenient and practical car, this vehicle is well equipped and offers a range of features.

CONS:  This car is quite expensive at £14,745 and lacks the green credentials of the Ford Fiesta Titanium Econetic 1.6 TDCi.

Behind the Wheel

Delivering 94 bhp at 3800 rpm with 150 lb-ft of torque, this car is capable of fairly impressive power credentials given its class. It has a top speed of 109mph. Acceleration is also fairly impressive and this model reaches 0-62 mph in 12.2 seconds - making it marginally faster than the Ford Fiesta Titanium Econetic 1.6 TDCi.

The car drives well thanks to responsive handling and high quality suspension. These systems combine to offer an agile and smooth drive, with bumps and road imperfections barely noticeable.

Looks & Equipment

Standard features are the same in this model as they are in the Ford Fiesta Titanium Econetic 1.6 TDCi 5dr. Alloy wheels, electric front windows, electric door mirrors, central locking, power steering, stability control and climate control are all provided as standard fixtures with other options available for additional costs.

The exterior can be enhanced with the option of a metallic paint finish for a cost of £495 whilst upgrading the interior to include leather seats will cost £750. Other cost options include rear parking sensor which are priced at £275.

In-car technology such as an advanced stereo system with MP3 connectivity is also provided as standard and this means there is plenty to keep drivers and passengers entertained.

Practicality, Safety & Reliability

The boot space is typical for a small family car and when the seats are upright the boot provides a 295 litre capacity. This grows to 979 litres when the seats are folded down, accommodating most storage needs.

The car is also covered by a three year warranty for 60,000 miles, giving buyers the assurance they need over reliability although, as a well-known car manufacturer, Ford has a good reliability record anyway and this means customers can expect few problems from their car.

The car is also highly practical for family use, with the five door access ensuring that loading and unloading the car is easy. Alongside this, good fuel economy makes the car affordable to run and extremely appealing to motorists on a budget.

The cars safety level is also high and security is not a concern for owners either. Driver, passenger and front side airbags are all fitted as standard whilst an alarm and immobiliser are fitted to protect the car from theft. This helped the car perform well in the NCAP crash tests where it achieved five out of five for occupant safety and four out of five for child safety.

Value for Money

The car is not overly cheap considering its status as a budget car, with a purchase price of £14,745. Whilst green credentials and economic savings are not the highest in the class they are still fairly reasonable. Unfortunately, they fail to match those offered in the Ford Fiesta Titanium Econetic 1.6 TDCi 5dr making the Titanium Econetic the better option.

Running costs for this car see fuel efficiency of 48.7 mpg offer relatively good savings whilst carbon emissions of 133 g/km place this car into road tax band E with insurance premiums falling under insurance group 9.
