A facelifted version of one of Britain’s best-selling cars, the Ford Focus, has been revealed at the Geneva Motor Show ahead of its launch later this year.
The big changes are under the bonnet where Ford has replaced the car’s old 1.6-litre engines with a brace of petrol and diesel 1.5-litre units. The new 1.5-litre EcoBoost petrol engine will be offered with outputs of 148bhp and 178bhp, while the new 1.5-litre diesel will get either 94bhp or 118bhp.
Looks-wise, the new Focus gets Ford’s latest corporate grille, bringing it in line with the latest Fiesta. Narrower headlamps and elongated fog lamps have also been fitted, along with a sculpted bonnet and new front and rear bumpers.
Inside, Ford has made the car less cluttered and more user-friendly and improved the quality of the cabin materials to provide a more upmarket feel.
The Focus also gets the latest version of Ford’s Sync infotainment system which features a hi-res eight-inch touchscreen and advanced voice control. Ford has also included a new parking function which automatically guides the car into both parallel and bay parking spaces.
Ford has yet to announce pricing for the new Focus, but we’re not expecting an increase over the current car’s £13,995 starting price.
