This is the new Alfa Romeo 4C Spider, a topless version of the firm's carbon-fibre coupe, which has been revealed to the world at the Geneva Motor Show.
Although officially a concept at this stage, the 4C Spider looks almost production-ready and will go into production in early 2015.
Mechanically, it's identical to the 4C Coupe, featuring a 237bhp turbocharged 1.75-litre petrol engine which, in the coupe at least, will hurl you from 0-62mph in 4.5 seconds and on to a top speed on the scary side of 155mph.
The Spider is likely to carry a slight performance deficit when compared to the hard-top thanks to a slightly higher kerb weight; however, thanks to the 4C's ultra-strong carbon-fibre tub, Alfa claims that the increase has been limited to just 60kg over the coupe's 895kg weight.
Obviously the main visual change to the Spider is the inclusion of the new canvas roof; however, the eagle-eyed amongst you may have noticed that the, erm, controversial headlights of the coupe have been ditched in favour of a pair of far more pleasing light clusters.
There's also a new Akrapovic exhaust system featuring twin pipes made from carbon-fibre and titanium. The system is fitted with an active valve which can be activated via a button in the cockpit which increases the noise produced by the exhaust.
Alfa has yet to reveal exactly how much the 4C Spider will cost when it goes on sale, but a significant increase over the hard-top's £45,000 asking price is likely on the cards.
