Volvo will reveal its new V40 Cross Country at the Paris Motor Show next week.

The Cross Country is based on the V40 hatchback released earlier in the year, but with a 40mm increase in ride height, bigger bumpers and 19-inch wheels on top-of-the-line models.

Volvo has the BMW X1 firmly in its crosshairs with the V40 Cross Country, and is hoping to steal sales away from the established names in the crossover market.

A range of engines will be on offer, including a 1.6-litre petrol, three diesels and the range-topping T5 model. The T5 comes with a 2.5-litre 250bhp petrol engine and is the only model in the range to come with four-wheel drive.

The Cross Country goes on sale in January 2013, with prices expected to start from around £19,500.
