Thanks to more than two decades of painstaking restoration work, a Volvo P1800 which was driven by a pre-James Bond Roger Moore in the 1960s television series The Saint has been restored to its former glory.
Volvo P1800 clocks up 3 million miles
The Volvo, which was one of a number of examples supplied for the iconic series, was found in a dilapidated state in a Welsh barn in 1991 by Volvo enthusiast Kevin Price.
When the car was discovered it was in a very poor state. The bodywork was comprised mainly of rust and the engine was in pieces on the back seat.
However, more than twenty years later the Volvo recently ran under its own steam for the first time in decades during an appearance at the Footman James Manchester Classic Car Show.
As part of the restoration process, Price rebuilt the car's entire body, removing rust from the panels, wheels and axle. Work was also needed on the engine, gearbox and transmission and the car had to be modified to run on unleaded petrol.
Andy Rouse, who organised the Footman James show said before the show: "The Saint car is a project we've been aware of over the years and it'll be great to see the final results of Kevin's incredible hard work and dedication."
