Volkswagen has announced the UK pricing details for the new Beetle Cabriolet, following its LA Motor Show debut.

Buyers will be able to choose between a range of petrol and diesel engines when the Beetle comes to the UK next year, including a 104bhp 1.2-litre petrol, a 158bhp 1.4-litre petrol, a 197bhp 2.0-litre petrol, a 104bhp 1.6-litre diesel and a 138bhp 2.0-litre diesel. The most efficient of these engines, the 1.6-litre diesel, will return more than 60mpg and emit between 118g/km and 124g/km of CO2, depending on the model.

The Beetle will be available in three levels of trim: Beetle, Design and Sport. The standard Beetle comes with air-conditioning, remote central locking, a CD player with DAB radio and a rear spoiler.

The Design trim adds 17-inch alloys, Bluetooth, iPod connectivity, front fog lights, an alarm, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and body-coloured door and dashboard panels.

Top-of-the-range Sport models get 18-inch alloys, cruise control, sports seats, climate control, parking sensors and gloss-black door mirrors.

Prices start at £18,150 for the entry-level 1.2-litre Beetle model, rising to £26,485 for the top-of-the-range 2.0-litre diesel Sport edition.

Special Editions

VW has also created three new special edition models to mark the Beetle's UK launch -- the 50s, 60s and 70s editions.

Beetle 50s Edition

50s

The 50s model is finished in 'Monochrome Black' paint with black 17-inch alloy wheels, chrome door trims, a black roof and black or beige leather seats.

Beetle 60s Edition

60s

The 60s edition comes in 'Denim Blue' or 'Candy White' paint and is available with a black roof and blue-and-black or red-and-black leather.

Beetle 70s Edition

70s

70s models get beige leather seats, a beige roof and are finished in 'Java Brown Metallic' paint.

The 50s Edition costs £24,655, the 60s Edition will set you back £25,875, while the 70s model is priced at £25,450.

The VW Beetle Cabriolet is available to order now and the first deliveries are expected in April.
