Vauxhall has released the first official photos of its new Adam city car which goes on sale in the UK next January.
The new car features a 'floating' roof design which utilises a two-tone colour scheme -- a similar design can be seen on Audi's A1. The Adam also features styling cues from the Astra GTC Coupe, such as the crease near the door handle, and will be the first car in its sector to features LED daytime running lights.
Buyers will be able to choose from three fatuously titled trim levels: JAM (fashionable/colourful), GLAM (elegant/sophisticated) and SLAM (racy/sporty). In fact, such is the level of personalisation available on the Adam, there are over a million different combinations possible and it's unlikely that you'll ever see two identical cars.
The Adam will be offered at launch with a choice of three four-pot petrol engines: a 1.2-litre with 69bhp and a 1.4-litre unit with either 86bhp or 99bhp. All are available with start/stop and a five-speed manual gearbox. A smaller turbocharged petrol engine with a six-speed 'box will be introduced later on.
Vauxhall is making a big noise about the Adam's equipment levels and claims that the car features technology normally only found on more expensive vehicles. Adam owners will get a full-colour touchscreen, Bluetooth and an automatic parking system (although, frankly, if you need automatic parking to park an Adam, you should rescind your licence immediately).
The pricing for the Adam will be announced when the car makes its world debut at September's Paris Motor Show.
