Vauxhall has used the Frankfurt Motor Show launch of its new Zafira Tourer to reveal details of the model’s pricing.
Vauxhall are making no secret of the fact that the £21,000 price announced for its entry level Zafira Tourer 1.8-litre ES is aimed squarely at besting its Ford S-Max rival.
Powered by a 138bhp engine, the entry level model in the Zafira Tourer range comes with air conditioning, DAB radio, cruise control, MP3 connectivity, active headrests, Flex7 seating, and no fewer than six airbags as standard. In addition to the entry level ES are the Exclusiv, SRi, SE, and Elite trim levels. Vauxhall claims that its Flex7 seating system has been developed to offer a greater degree of innovation and flexibility than the original seven-seat Zafira released onto the market in 1999, with an increase in cabin space in the Zafira Tourer.
The production model Zafira Tourer closely resembles the concept design previously exhibited at the Geneva Motor Show, and will find itself positioned above the current Zafira model in the Vauxhall range. In addition to the entry level ES, the Zafira Tourer will be offered with Exclusiv, SRi, SE, and Elite trim levels.
In addition to the 1.8-litre petrol engine found in the entry level Vauxhall Zafira Tourer ES there is also new 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol motor, and a 2.0-lite CDTi diesel. The latter is available as an ecoFLEX version emitting 119g/km of CO2.
The Zafira Tourer has a longer wheel-base than the standard Zafira, and uses key chassis engineering from the Vauxhall Insignia. In addition, Vauxhall's FlexRide adaptive damping system is available as an optional extra on the Zafira Tourer, as is Traffic Sign Recognition, Side Blind Spot Alert and Advance Park Assist.
The Zafira Tourer, with its entry level price of £21,000, will be available to order from the 1st November.
