Vauxhall are throwing open the doors on their historic vehicle collection next month in a triple celebration for the firm.
Free entry to the Vauxhall Heritage Centre in Luton will be available between 10am and 4pm on Sunday 14 June as the manufacturer celebrates 40 years since the launch of the Cavalier and Chevette models, and a quarter of a century since the release of the legendary Lotus Carlton.
The company’s collection, which totals over 60 Vauxhalls from 1903 to the modern day, is being opened for the public to join in the celebrations for the 40th birthday of the Cavalier, which was launched in 1975 and went on to become a family favourite for generations. Launched alongside the Cavalier was the Chevette, which was based on the first incarnation of General Motors’ world-car platform and in many ways was a forerunner of the popular supermini market that exists today.
Meanwhile, celebrating its quarter-century is Vauxhall’s Lotus Carlton, which held the record for the world’s fastest four-door saloon when it was launched in 1990 with a top speed of 176mph.
Vauxhall hope the open day will be a great day out for car enthusiasts of all ages, with the exhibition also boasting food and refreshments on sale and entertainment for the kids including pedal cars and face painting.
