Vauxhall has released the first official pictures of its first small 4x4.
Vauxhall has announced that it will unveil the Mokka, a small 4x4, at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show in March. The new car will fit into the sub-compact SUV B-segment, taking Vauxhall into new territory. It is a five seat car and measures 4.28 metres in length.
The new Vauxhall Mokka will come with three different engines, all of which have start-stop technology to reduce fuel consumption. Two of the three are petrol engines - a 1.6-litre 113bhp naturally aspirated unit and a 1.4-litre 138bhp turbo. The third is a 1.7 CDTI turbo 128bhp diesel engine. Buyers will also be offered the option to specify all-wheel drive, and the 1.4 Turbo and 1.7 CDTI versions will come with a choice between automatic and manual transmissions.
The Mokka will also introduce a wide array of Driver Assistance Systems technology, which haven't previously made it into cars in the SUV B-segment. These include Traction Control, Electronic Stability Control, Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control. Other cutting-edge technology being added to the Mokka includes Advanced Adaptive Forward Lighting, High Beam Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Alert and Traffic Sign Recognition.
With 1,372-litres of storage space and 19 different storage locations the Mokka will have plenty of internal space despite the compact size. There is even a fully integrated Flex-Fix bicycle carrier in the rear underbody, which opens out like a drawer and has space for up to three bikes.
The Vauxhall Mokka will get a full debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March, and will go on sale in the UK near the end of 2012.
