Vauxhall has revealed the first sketches of its new Adam Rocks concept, which shows how future crossover and convertible variants of the city car could look.

According to Vauxhall, the inspiration for the Adam Rocks came from the way in which parkour athletes navigate urban obstacles and is 15mm higher and 20mm wider than the standard car. It also gets plastic wheelarches and bumpers which not only lend the car a more rugged appearance, but will also provide some level of protection from parking scrapes.

"[The Adam Rocks] combines the toughness of a crossover with the coolness of open air driving," said Vauxhall's Lead Design Director, Malcolm Ward.

"As a symbol for fashion-led, active drivers wanting to stand out from the crowd, ADAM ROCKS is just one possible answer to the question of how new development paths for this unique car could be forged."

Whether or not a crossover version of the Adam makes it into production remains to be seen, but given the success of the Fiat 500C and the Citroen DS3 Cabrio, we'd say a convertible model seems likely.
