SUV drivers could make their motor stand out from the crowd by snapping up a special registration number which goes under this week.
Wednesday sees the Tankersley Manor Hotel in Barnsley host the first live DVLA Personalised Registration auction of 2016, with the registration 1 SUV up for grabs with a £2,400 reserve. The ultimate in Sport Utility Vehicle personalisation, the number is one of two SUV-related plates on offer at the event.
Adam Griffiths, of DVLA Personalised Registrations, said: “Everyone in the industry knows there’s a huge debate on which car is the ultimate SUV. While we aren’t qualified to judge which vehicle is the best on the market, we are offering what we believe to be the ultimate in SUV-related personalised registrations in 1 SUV and SUV 70Y.”
Other registrations due to go under the hammer include BA65 HAW, which boasts a £700 reserve, FA12 LEY (£700), FA15 SAL (£700), SKA 80Y (£300), WH15 PER (£700) and 51 XTY (£1,200).
DVLA Personalised Registrations ended 2015 – their most successful year to date – on a high note when the final sale of the year in Cheltenham became the first in nearly a decade to break the £5 million mark. The Agency also set a new sales record for current-style registrations when KR15 HNA sold in May for £233,360.
“Last year was the Agency’s most successful since we started selling personalised registrations in 1989 and the crop of personalised registrations we’ve lined up for this sale combined with the continued interest from motorists could ensure that success continues”, said Adam Griffiths.
