Audi have announced plans to add a brace of new Q models to their line up over the next two years.
The company plans to commence building the new Q8 crossover at its Bratislava plant next year, followed by the Q4 compact utility vehicle in Gyor, Hungary, from 2019.
The Q8 will be a premium SUV model with coupe-inspired styling. It will be built at the same factory in Bratislava, Slovakia, which has been producing the Audi Q7 model since 2005.
The Audi Q4 e-tron will see Audi’s entrance into the compact utility vehicle sector. With a coupe-style silhouette, the Q4 will sit between the Q3 and Q5 in the Audi line up. It will be built in Hungary at the Gyor plant, which will be simultaneously producing the Audi Q3 after production of that model is switched from the Spanish Martorell facility next year.
“We will integrate two completely new Q-models into the existing production network and will thus increase our competitiveness in an extremely important segment,” stated Audi’s Board of Management Member for Production and Logistics, Prof. Dr. Hubert Waltl.
