Toyota is set to reveal its new Yaris Trend at the Paris Motor Show next week.
The Yaris Trend is a subtly-tweaked version of the current Yaris supermini, which Toyota claims is aimed at "younger customers for who make fashionable design a priority."
This could be seen as a wise move on Toyota's part for two main reasons.
Number one, the average age of a Toyota driver is 84* and, since most of the Yaris's customer base is likely to die over the next few years, it makes sense for Toyota to target younger buyers. Secondly, the Yaris is about as interesting as Steve Davis hosting a BBC Four documentary on the history of brass rubbing, and anything Toyota can do to liven it up a bit can only be seen as a 'good thing'.
On the outside, the Trend is basically identical to the standard Yaris but features 16-inch wheels, blacked-out B- and C-pillars, and chrome detailing around the front fog-lights. In addition to this, you get a roof spoiler, and what Toyota calls a 'Deco line' which runs from the headlights down the Yaris's sides.
On the inside, you get a black, white and ochre colour scheme, improved trim and soft-touch plastic on the dashboard.
The Yaris Trend will go on sale in the UK early next year.
*Only joking, it's really 83.** **We're still joking, we really don't know what it is.
