Toyota has triumphed as the best 'lasting value for money' car manufacturer, with readers of Auto Express singling out the Aygo, iQ and Prius models for specific praise.
Readers of Auto Express made their thoughts clear in the recent Auto Express 2012 Driver Power survey.
90% of the 29,000 votes which were cast named the Aygo, Prius and iQ for their terrific value for money.
Readers concluded that Toyota "clearly has a knack of keeping costs down" in their assessment of the vehicles.
Jon Williams, Managing Director of Toyota GB, said that there can be no better judges of the day-to-day value of driving a Toyota than the drivers themselves.
"These results demonstrate how our commitment to quality in every aspect of the cars we make and sell is delivering real benefits in terms of how much it costs our customers to run and maintain their vehicles," he stated.
Keeping budgets "under control"
The manufacturer also highlighted the key to keeping running costs in check, with specific reference to each individual vehicle:
"With record high fuel prices, the real-world efficiency of Toyota engines is a crucial factor in helping keep customer budgets under control. The one-litre, three-cylinder VVT-i engine which powers Aygo and iQ has been a class-winner many times over in the International Engine of the Year Awards, while Hybrid Synergy Drive, the full hybrid powertrain featured in Prius, demonstrates how Toyota's industry-leading advanced technologies are user-friendly and reliable, as well as being refined, clean and fuel-frugal."
'Best Family Estate'
On top of this recognition, the UK-built Toyota Avensis Tourer was recently honoured as the 'Best Family Estate' vehicle in the recent Parkers Cost of Motoring New Car Awards.
A number of vehicles were praised in the 2012 edition of the prestigious awards, but there was only one winner in the Family Estate category: the Toyota Avensis Tourer 2.0-litre D-4D TR.
