Only eighteen months after celebrating the four million sales mark, the Suzuki Swift has now sold more than five million units.
The model has grown increasingly popular with UK buyers since its launch here in May 2005, accounting for over a third of all Suzuki sales in this country. A global hit for Suzuki, the Swift is now built in Japan, Hungary, China, Malaysia, Pakistan, Thailand, Vietnam, and in its largest market in India, which accounts for around half of all global sales of the model.
The UK specification features five trim levels; SZ2, SZ3, SZ-L, SZ4, and Sport. Available in both three and five door versions the Swift has an engine range comprising of a 1.2-litre petrol engine emitting 116g/km of CO2, a Dualjet version which records just 99g/km, and on Sport model a 1.6-litre power plant. All models come with seven airbags, electronic stability program as standard, and front passenger airbag deactivation function, helping the Swift achieve top 5-Star Euro NCAP marks. Electric windows, remote central door locking with deadlocks, electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors, MP3 / WMA compatible CD tuner with USB port and steering wheel mounted audio controls also appear on the Suzuki Swift’s equipment list. SZ3 and SZ4 1.2 Dualjet petrol models even come with the option of all wheel drive.
Until the end of June Suzuki are offering UK buyers the chance to take out 0% Personal Contract Purchase on all Swift models except 4x4 and Sport variants. A three-door Suzuki Swift SZ3 on the 0% PCP offer would cost £2411 as deposit, 42 monthly payments of £99, and then a final payment of £3,680.
