Subaru have added their advanced EyeSight collision avoidance system as standard to all new Levorg models.
The EyeSight system includes such features as Pre-Collision Braking, Pre-Collision Throttle Management, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure & Sway Warning, Pre-Collision Steering Assist, and Lead Vehicle Start Alert. A pair of rear-view mirror-mounted cameras provide the system with a stereoscopic image of the Levorg’s environment, giving EyeSight the capability to detect darkly-clad pedestrians even in unlit areas and initiate Pre-collision braking.
Subaru claim this will prevent accidents up to 28mph and significantly reduce the severity of those at higher speeds. A Japanese study conducted between 2010 and 2014 found that vehicles fitted with the EyeSight system we involved in 61% fewer accidents.
Subaru attribute the recent announcement the Levorg has become the fifth model in their line up to achieve top five star marks in Euro NCAP testing. Euro NCAP gave the model 92% in the Adult Occupant Safety category and 83% for Child Occupant Safety, while in the two new categories added to the tougher 2016 test the Levorg achieved 75% for Pedestrian Safety and 68% for Safety Assistance.
