Subaru will unveil a new version of its Forester SUV at the LA Motor Show later this month.

Subaru has moved the Forester upmarket with this new version. Not only is the new car larger than its predecessor, it also features sportier styling and a classier interior.

The Forester gets a new, more upright grille, new headlights and a redesigned front bumper.

Two new Boxer engines have been announced for the new Forester -- a 170bhp naturally-aspirated 2.5-litre unit with 174lb-ft of torque, and a turbocharged 2.0-litre engine delivering 250bhp and 258lb-ft of torque. Both models will be offered with a choice of six-speed manual and CVT gearboxes.

When the Forester arrives in the UK in 2013, it is likely that it will be offered with the same 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines fitted to the current model. It is not yet clear whether the turbocharged engine will be offered in Britain.

We'll keep you updated with more news on the new Forester closer to the car's launch.
