As you're probably aware, the late, great Steve McQueen -- in addition to being one of the coolest people ever to have lived -- was a bit of a petrolhead. And by 'a bit of a petrolhead', we mean that he raced cars, made movies about cars and amassed a collection of automotive exotica which would make even the most well-heeled wheelsman weep.

The car you see here, a 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4, was bought by McQueen while he was filming The Thomas Crown Affair, and is expected to fetch millions when it goes under the hammer at RM Auctions' Monterey sale in August.

On taking delivery of the car, McQueen immediately sent it to be resprayed in 'Chianti Red', also fitting the Borrani wire wheels from his 275 GTB NART Spider, which he'd crashed, along with a new rear view mirror, new seat trim and a retractable radio aerial.

McQueen hung onto the car until 1971, when he sold it to Guy Williams (the dad from 'Lost in Space'). The current owner purchased the car in 2010 and commissioned a full restoration, apparently spending a six-figure sum bringing it up to scratch.

So, how much is it going to go for? Well, a similar Ferrari 275 GTB/4*S NART became the most expensive Ferrari ever sold last year, commanding a bid of $27.5million. On top of this, in 2012 a Ford GT40 once used by McQueen became the most expensive American car ever sold, fetching $11million. Experts claim McQueen's Fezza could fetch £8million.
