Sir Elton John’s old Maserati is up for grabs when Classic Car Auctions’ March sale takes place in Leamington Spa.
Sir Elton owned the 2005 Maserati Quattroporte from new - ordering the model with a host of extras which include a rear DVD player and screen, games input, two headphones, remote control and six CD auto changer – before selling it on in 2010. Expected to fetch between £15,000 and £17,000, the car comes with the original Maserati welcome letter, unused personal 24hr concierge members card, and personal gift of a matching leather covered key tray, tool kit, gloves and car cover. In addition to Sir Elton’s name on the V5, the Maserati has an MoT until January next year and has just 28,000 miles on the clock.
Arwel Richards of auctioneers CCA – who will auction the car on 19th March at the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre – said: “This is a wonderfully rare opportunity to buy an example of Italian exotica that goes like a rocket man. There’s something about the way this car looks at night, and the vendor should still be standing as he waves goodbye along the yellow brick road to the auction rostrum!”
The auction specialists have a pedigree in selling motors of the rich and famous; last month a Range Rover Sport first owned by David Beckham went for £31,350, while a restored 1967 Ford Mustang Convertible belonging to actor Charles Dance fetched £33,550.
