The seven millionth Skoda Octavia has rolled off the production line a little over six decades after the first.
The Octavia name first appeared in 1959, so chosen as it was Skoda’s eighth new model since the end of the Second World War. It proved a popular model throughout the sixties and into the seventies, so much so that it was revived for Skoda’s re-entry into the mid-size saloon market in 1996.
Last year was a momentous one for the Octavia, with 363,700 units sold it was Skoda’s best-selling model, and an all-new fourth generation Octavia made its debut in Prague ensuring the name will remain a big-hitter in its class for many years to come.
The seven millionth Octavia rolled off the production line at Skoda’s spiritual home at Mlada Boleslav in the Czech Republic, but with demand for the model now on a global scale recent years has seen Octavia production expanded into Russia, India, and China.
