Ender's Game, a new science-fiction movie based on the novel by Orson Scott Card and featuring none other than Mr Harrison Ford, opened this week to decidedly mixed reviews.
Of course, this isn't something we'd normally cover (what with us being a car website and everything) but we thought we'd make an exception in this case as Ender's Game happens to feature quite an interesting motor.
This is the Audi Fleet Shuttle Quattro and we feel responsible to point out that it IS NOT REAL. You can't stroll down to your local Audi dealership and find one of these nestling in the middle of a row of A3 Sportbacks.
Underneath, it's an Audi A7 Sportback. Literally. Audi supplied the filmmakers with an A7 Sportback for Harrison Ford to drive in the movie; then, with clever use of CGI, the company responsible for the film's special effects, Digital Domain, turned the A7 into the car you see here.
The director of Ender's Game, Gavin Hood, said "We have created a car for a world in about 75 years, which integrated itself perfectly into the high-tech atmosphere of the movie."
This isn't the first time Audi have been involved in providing cars for science-fiction films; Will Smith drove an Audi in 'I, Robot' and we liked the car so much we included it on our list of Top 10 Science Fiction Cars.
In fact, on the evidence we've seen so far, most visions of a dystopian future seem to have everyone driving around in Audis. We can only assume, therefore, that tailgating is going to be a massive problem in the future.
