Today Rolls-Royce revealed its new Ghost Extended Wheelbase at the Shanghai Motor Show.

Rolls claims that the new Ghost "caters for customers who require increased space and comfort without sacrificing [the] Ghost’s unique balance of dynamism and poise." Designed to be primarily chauffeur driven, the new Ghost is 170mm longer than the standard car and features the same 6.6-litre twin turbo BMW V12 fitted to the shorter car. With 563bhp and 575lb-ft of torque, the extended Ghost hits 62mph in five seconds and air suspension ensures that passengers in the back will remain comfortable no matter how bumpy the road gets.

Torsten Müller-Ötvös, Rolls CEO said, "[the] Ghost Extended Wheelbase delivers all the poise and dynamism enjoyed by discerning Ghost owners, with the indulgent experience of an extended wheelbase car. It is the very best of both worlds."

Also on display in Shanghai is the China Edition ghost, developed especially for the Chinese market. The China Edition features a red interior, gold twin coachlines, a gold-plated Spirit of Ecstasy and stainless steel pinstripes, and will be available to order in limited numbers by Chinese customers.

This coincides with Rolls' planned expansion into the Asia Pacific market with the firm planning on increasing the number of showrooms in China from 8 to 11. Rolls-Royce hopes that it can capitalise on the burgeoning Chinese market, with China now being the second largest economy in the world.
