The Skoda Kodiaq vRS has set a best-in-class time around the Nurburgring’s legendary Nordschleife.

In the capable hands of professional racing driver Sabine Schmitz, the seven-seat SUV lapped the 20.832km-long circuit in a record 9 minutes 24.84 seconds. Schmitz, who has driven more than 30,000 laps of the Nürburgring, described the Kodiaq vRS as “great fun on the track,” adding, “Skoda has made full use of its large SUV’s potential”.

The 236bhp 2.0-litre BiTDI-powered Kodiaq vRS will be joining the Skoda line up later this year, making its public bow at the 2018 Paris Motor Show in October.
