The Geneva Motor Show has showcased a number of new vehicles, including the world premiere of the new Renault ZOE.
Renault has introduced the ZOE as 'the first affordable car for everyday use'. The car is the final instalment in Renault's initial four-strong Z.E. range and its starting price in the UK stands at £13,650.
The manufacturer made assurances that ZOE includes that latest and most advanced technologies, including six 'world premiere' features.
Carlos Ghosn, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Renault commented on the new Renault ZOE:
"ZOE will be the spearhead of the Renault Z.E. range and the version on show at Geneva represents the model's final design. In addition to its compact size, attractive styling and affordable price tag, it showcases Renault's technological excellence when it comes to electric vehicles. ZOE also heralds the beginning of a new era of electric mobility for all and confirms our commitment to electric vehicles."
The vehicle also comes with the innovative urban runabout Twizy. Renault states that this aims to help drivers cut their motoring costs by "making Zero Emission mobility a reality". In fact, this goal was flagged as part of Renault's 'Drive the Change' plan.
'Renault 2016 – Drive the Change'
As part of the 'Drive for Change' plan, Renault made the commitment to reduce its cars' carbon emissions by 10% by 2013 and by a further 10% by 2016. The firm is working on its already growing range of electric vehicles and its internal combustion engines to meet this end.
Renault also seized the opportunity of the Geneva Motor Show to reveal its powertrain strategy. This includes two new internal combustion engines, the petrol Energy TCe 90 and the diesel Energy dCi 90.
The firm has also worked to ensure that all the engines within the Renault Energy range enhance powertrain performance and simultaneously return low fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
