Renault has unveiled a new concept car to celebrate fifty years of the Alpine A110 at the Monaco Grand Prix.

The Alpine A 110-50 is fitted with a mid-mounted 3.5-litre V6 developing 400bhp and 311lb-ft of torque which sends its power to the rear wheels via a six-speed sequential gearbox. The car is also extremely light thanks to its tubular chassis and carbon-fibre bodywork, tipping the scales at just 880kg. This translates into a 0-62mph time of less than three seconds.

The Alpine is finished in a new shade of blue which Renault claims "refreshes and reinterprets the [A110's] famous original 'Alpine Blue.'" The car certainly looks the part thanks to its scissor doors and extremely aerodynamic shape. The Alpine is also incredibly low and front and rear splitters help generate ground effect to keep the car planted.

The concept's creator, Axel Breun, said: "Developing this concept car was a great adventure. It was a catalyst for creativity. We wanted to make a Berlinette that was of our time, and which boldly embodies Renault's passion for motorsport."
