Honda has revealed a racing version of the forthcoming NSX, the Honda NSX Concept-GT.
The NXX Concept-GT is unusual amongst racing cars because it will take to the track more than a year before the production car on which it is based goes on sale. It therefore provides us our first glance of a gen-yoo-wine, working NSX.
Powered by a direct-injection 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine, the Concept-GT will compete in the GT500 class of the 2014 Super GT Championship in Japan.
The road-going NSX, on the other hand, is expected to be powered by a combination of a V6 petrol engine and three electric motors, one in the gearbox and two on the front axle, making the NSX a four-wheel drive car.
A prototype of the road-going NSX was revealed recently at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, following its debut at the Detroit Motor Show earlier this year.
The production NSX will go on sale in 2015.
