The Renault Twingo has added to its already burgeoning trophy collection after the city car was named Design of the Year by industry magazine Fleet World.

Since it was launched the all-new Twingo has already picked up accolades at the Top Gear Magazine Awards, the British GQ Car Awards, and the UK Car of the Year Awards where it was named as the 2015 City Car of the Year. “The new Twingo combines the best bits of Renault’s expertise – small cars and MPVs. Its chic styling is a nod to the Renault 5, while the rear-mounted engine enables a large and flexible interior to fit into a small, manoeuvrable body,” said Fleet World’s Deputy Editor Alex Grant.

The rear-engined, rear-wheel-drive design of the Twingo enables an effective use of internal space which has impressed the various awards panels, and also boasts a nimble 8.59 metre turning circle.  The model comes with two engine options; a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder unit producing 70bhp, or the turbocharged 0.9-litre version developing 90bhp. The Twingo offers sub-100g/km of CO2 emissions and up to 67.3mpg combined.  Prices start from £9,495 for the entry-level Expression model, with Play, Dynamique, and Dynamique S trims also available.
