Ford are celebrating signing a deal to supply over a thousand new police vehicles starting this year.
They will supply police forces nationwide with 1,100 new vehicles as part of the deal after the Ford Kuga SUV and Transit Custom van were chosen in a fleet renewal programme.
The deal starts with 680 vehicles being supplied to the UK’s northern consortium of 22 police forces, who will take 120 Kuga SUVs and 560 Transit Custom vans – half of which will be converted by Ford’s Special Vehicle Preparations department to function as cell vans.
A further 80 Kugas and 200 Transit Customers will be supplied to the UK’s southern consortium. The consortium, which comprises 28 police forces and six fire services, will also take 110 Ford Transit Connect light vans and 30 ranger pick-ups.
“Ford has a long history of working with emergency services spanning 50 years,” said Terry Adams, Ford direct sales manager.
“The stylish and capable Ford Kuga has established itself as their rural beat car of choice with all-important all-wheel drive necessary for winter conditions.”
