Peugeot has revealed the new 508 RXH diesel hybrid.
The new car, which goes on sale next spring, has a 2.0-litre diesel engine which when combined with an electric motor produces 197bhp. The 508 RXH should be able to achieve 67.2mpg and just 109g/km of CO2.
The new Pug is cleverer than that though. While the diesel engine powers the front wheels, the electric motor is used to turn the rears ones, making the 508 RXH a 4x4. The car can also run for short distances using only its electric motor.
On the outside, the car has been beefed up considerably. A higher ride height, chunkier sills and bigger wheel arches betray the 508’s eco-credentials. On the inside, equipment levels are good with electric seats, HUD and a panoramic sun roof.
Further details will emerge ahead of the 508’s debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
