Over 6,000 Citroen 2CVs are set to gather at the 19th International ‘Amis de la 2CV’ between the 26th and 31st July, the largest gathering of 2CVs ever recorded.

The biennial gathering sees 2CV enthusiasts from around the globe converging on Salbris in Central France to celebrate Citroen's most iconic model and the 2011 meeting is expected to be the largest yet.

Developed before the Second World War, the 2CV went into production in 1948 and sold over 5 million units before it was discontinued in 1990.

Also on show will be a Citroen REVOLTe concept, a new city car which takes its inspiration from the 2CV.

The meeting will include a bring-and-buy sale, childrens' events, driving simulators and a 'disassemble-reassemble' competition.
