Mitsubishi have made a storming start to the year according to new figures released today by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.
The Japanese manufacturer has seen passenger car sales jump by a whopping 41.9 per cent in the first month of 2016, compared to a market average of 7.9 per cent, supporting Mitsubishi’s claim to the title of the UK’s fastest growing car brand.
The new L200 Series 5 claimed over 40 per cent of the entire UK retail pick-up market in January, while the Outlander PHEV accounted for a similar percentage of the UK plug-in vehicle sector. The latter benefitted from purchasers looking to beat the 1 March deadline for the £5,000 plug-in car grant, which the Government have announced will drop to £2,500 after that date.
Toby Marshall, Sales and Marketing Director said: ‘We launched two major new models in 2015, which are contributing to our sustained sales performance. The business is growing rapidly, with the appointment of new dealers and more exciting new models on the way.’
