Possibly the oldest surviving Ford Escort XR3i is expected to be the star attraction at Barons’ Classic Winter Warmer auction at Sandown Park later this month.
If you happen to live in the Sandown Park, but can't make the auction, then why not have a look for used cars on our website. Anyway, back to the auction, and the Escort!
It is thought to be one of only three remaining pre-production examples made by Ford for the Escort XR3i’s press launch in 1980, and having undergone a nut-and-bolt restoration just over a year ago the model is expected for fetch between £11,000 and £15,000.Other highlights of the ale include is a fully-restored 1962 Jaguar E-Type with a guide price of £130,000-£150,000, and a 1989 Jaguar XJS convertible with only 2,700 miles on the clock. The XJS was fitted with a 5.7-litre Corvette engine in 1991, and comes complete with all original Jaguar owners’ manuals, touch-up paints, hood bag etc, and has been kept in climate-controlled storage. It is expected to fetch £33,000-£40,000.
Another low-miler is a 1967 Vauxhall Viva HB Super Luxury Auto, thought to be the only Borg Warner 35 Super Lux left in existence, which has covered just 12,000 miles in 50 years. It carries an auction estimate of between £5,000-£7,000.
For around £5,000-£8,000 you could drive away a 1954 Bedford Green Goddess military fire engine finished in distinctive bright yellow to identify it as one of only 25 that served with the British Army in Northern Ireland.
The Barons Classic Winter Warmer will take place on 27 February.
