Nissan has revealed its Resonance concept at the Detroit Motor Show.
The Resonance, which Nissan teased last week, is expected to preview the firm's new range of crossover models, as well as the forthcoming Murano replacement which is due next year.
Some of the Resonance's most distinctive styling features, including its 'boomerang' headlights, will also find their way onto the next-generation Qashqai, which is also due out in 2014.
The Resonance is powered by an all-wheel drive hybrid drivetrain, which combines a 2.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor. Nissan has yet to reveal any performance figures.
Nissan describes the Resonance's interior as a 'VIP lounge', claiming that the concept's cabin "exudes genuine sophistication."
Francois Bancon, Nissan's division general manager, Product Strategy and Planning, said: "Resonance is meant to be provocative, energetic and engaging -- even polarizing."
"Its edgy yet sophisticated design, combined with an environmentally sensitive powertrain and intelligent utility provides a clear, exciting view into the future of crossover innovation."
